Privacy Policy

FlyButter is an app for aircraft owners and pilots at flybutterapp.com and flybutter.app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@flybutterapp.com.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist: your email address, plus anything optional you add: first name, your role (owner, renter, student, instructor, mechanic) and what you fly. We also note where you found us (for example, Instagram).
When you create an account: your name, email address and password. Your password is stored only as a one-way scrambled hash; nobody at FlyButter can read it. We also record which invite code type you signed up with (beta or early access).
When you sign in with Google: Google shares your name, email address and a Google account ID with us. That's all. We do not get your Google password, and FlyButter does not access your Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar or any other Google data.
What you put in the app: your aircraft, flights, tach and Hobbs times, maintenance items, squawks, expenses, and documents or photos you upload.
Technical information: a secure cookie that keeps you signed in, and basic request logs (such as IP address and browser type) that our hosting provider keeps for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To run FlyButter: sign you in, store your hangar and show it back to you on your devices.
- To email you about early access, your account and important changes to the app.
- To keep the service secure, for example by limiting repeated sign-in attempts.
- To understand how FlyButter is used so we can improve it.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your information.
- We don't show ads or share your information with advertisers.
- We don't use Google user data for anything except signing you in to FlyButter, and we don't transfer it to anyone else except as needed to run the service, to comply with the law, or to protect FlyButter and its users.
Who helps us run FlyButter
- Cloudflare hosts the website, the database and stored files.
- Google provides "Continue with Google" sign-in, if you choose to use it.
These providers process data on our behalf to run the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and hangar data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and hangar data within 30 days. Waitlist entries are deleted on request. Hosting logs are kept for a limited time by our provider.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@flybutterapp.com. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time.
Security
FlyButter uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, secure sign-in cookies and limits on repeated sign-in attempts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
FlyButter is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and we'll let account holders know by email about significant changes.
